Turners Mill Road
Behind the beautiful Beech hedge at no 27 lies our garden - a work in progress. We bought the house with the unloved and neglected garden back in 1997. Derek, my assistant, must take all the credit for digging out monster conifers, concrete posts, old fence panels and over 30 feet of clay drain pipe to give us a blank canvas to work with.
Since then, apart from a ten year break when we lived abroad, we have created the garden you are going to see in this blog.
It had always been on my bucket list to be in the Yellow Book but I never thought the garden was big enough or fancy enough. But we did make it into the Book and it has been a pleasure. Sadly this year we wont get to open but hopefully our old and new visitors will be able to enjoy this blog. Hopefully you'll agree with me that all that counts is that you love your garden and it's great to share some of that love.
And I've been told that sharing is what blogging is all about (according to my teenagers). So share I will - but not all at once. I'll let you have some weekly highlights and choose a different seating area to focus on as well as Derek's latest project.
Hope you enjoyed my first ever blog!

DeleteLooks great Sam, lovely to hear about the history of the garden and to see those gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteYour assistant Derek sounds like a marvellous chap. Seems to be multi talented. I guess it runs in the family.
