Borde Hill Revisited
Borde Hill has opened its gates again and is operating a ticketed entry scheme. I booked at the last minute to make the most of the last of the warm sunshine before the weather changes. In spite of being a bit crispy round the edges - and whose garden isn't- the grounds were looking their best. The rose garden is spectacular this year with some stunning mixed displays.
The Italian garden has always been one of my favourite spots at Borde Hill and the alliums are in full swing at the moment. They really stand out against the clipped box hedges.
Walking round the garden late afternoon was a very peaceful experience. There was lots to look at and admire and very few people to dodge. This Cornus kousa particularly caught my eye.

A river of delicate Erigerons flows past a sculpture.
A simple but stunning display of geraniums hiding by one of the glass houses.
I know the BH estate made itself very unpopular with the residents of Penland Road when it sold off its land to developers, but I still feel lucky to have such a lovely garden on my doorstep. Especially as I can get in for free with my RHS membership!
