Glorious May

Geranium Phaeum

So, May comes to greet us as we make our way through week 5 of lockdown. The warm sunshine of April gave way to a cool wet week and the gardens have responded ...... dare I employ the annual 'burgeoning' word?

Now, I am unashamedly a lover of outrageous tulips; blackcurrants, magentas, oranges, russets, parrot, lily ........ anything but soft and shy ......

But then May arrives with the elegance of cow parsley and lilac and gently takes the helm as the brashness of tulips gently decays ..... but don't you just love a fading tulip with their beauty that lasts to their very last breath......

Elsewhere, the garden is preparing to burst into early summer, just the glint of a promise, but a hope that reminds us that Covid or not, the seasons will still come and go, seed time and harvest, and the reminder to live the day we've been given and to be thankful for the beauty that surrounds us.
